In Animal Crossing, there are villagers whose personalities are just like that. While there are only a few of them compared to other personalities, they still have a large presence in the game. These villagers are the smug villagers.

They are good companions to have and can sometimes create genuinely funny moments. Their interactions with other villagers are interesting and sometimes hilarious. Smug villagers are male villagers who act kind, polite, and gentleman-like. They are known to be lively and positive. At the same time, they act arrogant and sophisticated. Still, they can get friendly with other villagers.

Players revealed in the Happy Home Paradise expansion in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that they are music enthusiasts. Plus, they participate in logical conversations and often give out life advice.

They are relatively new to the series, having been introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. As a result, they are the least common male personality. As of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there are a total of 38 smug villagers.

However, one out of 38 smug villagers is not present in the latest entry. Also, six smug villagers used to have another personality. The developers changed most of them during the personality’s introduction.

The Behavior of Smug Villagers

Smug villagers are boastful and arrogant villagers but can be friendly with others. Because of their arrogance, players would unintentionally feel like they are belittling them.

They love talking about themselves, how cool they are, and how they are the coolest among everyone. In Happy Home Paradise, their roommate would sometimes comment that they can’t sleep because of the smug villager. They listen to loud music at night if they have one.

The time smug villagers wake up and go to sleep is different across the series’ games. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, they are asleep at 2 AM. This time, they are awake at 8:30 AM.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, they are asleep at 2 AM once again. Yet this time, they are awake at 7 AM. There is no information about their sleep schedule in the earlier games because they debuted in New Leaf. Below is a summary of the sleep schedule.

They can get along well with others of the same personality. Snooty villagers as well can get along swimmingly with them due to their common interests. After all, snooty villagers also act arrogantly and boastfully.

Most of the smug villagers have their birthdays in December. To be specific, there are six of them in December. In June and October, there are five smug villagers each with birthdays.

In May, July, and September, there are four villagers each. November has three villagers. In March, April, and August, there are two each. However, no smug villagers are celebrating their birthdays in January and February.

Additionally, there are four pairs of smug villagers whose birthdays are chronologically next to each other. For example, Klaus’ and Cephalobot’s birthdays are next to each other. Klaus’ is on March 31 and Cephalobot’s is the day after that, April 1. Below is a list of these villagers.
