Goldie Animal Crossing

Introduction

Have you ever wanted to talk to a dog? Do you love Golden Retrievers? (I will judge you if the answer to either of these questions is no.

If you, of course, do want to talk to dogs and love golden retrievers, then animal crossing is perfect for you; Animal Crossing is super wholesome and comforting and easy to get lost in. While I value all the animal types in Animal Crossing (although I do favor peppy and lazy villager personalities), there is something particularly exciting about having a big golden retriever on your island!

If you feel the same, then I am sure you want to know more about Goldie, who I loved meeting for the first time in Animal Crossing New Leaf!

Bottom Line Up Front

Goldie is a dog with the normal personality type, which is consistent across all versions of Animal Crossing; as a fan favorite sure, Goldie has been present in every version of Animal Crossing to date. Goldie (super interestingly) is the oldest of three triplets (as much as a triplet can be older than the others, which is not much for sure), although all of this makes sense if you think about how big a dogs litter normally is.

Goldie has a nature hobby and can often be found reading books and studying trees, plants, fish, and animals. In terms of appearance, Goldie wears a long-sleeved tweed dress which is yellow primarily, and thick green lines with smaller red lines in a cross work style. Goldie’s dress has white cuffs on the ends of the sleeves and an old-fashioned white collar (not the most fashionable character, in my opinion)

In the Happy Home update, Goldie’s vision is a real Chef’s Chateau, and to complete this, Goldie requires a ranch kitchen, ranch cupboard, and a mixer.

Who is Goldie?

Goldie

Goldie is a character who has appeared in every single version of Animal Crossing to date. Goldie’s name is for sure a play on words (as are all names in Animal Crossing) which is why I love analyzing the names each character has and what these might mean or where the origin of the name has come from because believe me, no name in Animal Crossing is random!

Goldie is no exception to this rule, as she is likely named after the Golden Retriever breed of dog, as she looks exactly like one! Now that I think about it, I have seen a few Golden Retrievers in my time called Goldie! Goldie’s catchphrase is also ”woof” if they cannot make it any more obvious that she is a dog.

Goldie’s birthday is a Christmas birthday and takes place on the 27th of December. Goldie has a hobby that relates to nature which means that she has a keen interest in nature and plants and trees and animals. If you have seen Goldie on your island, you should think about any times that you have seen her with a book! Chances are, whichever book she is carrying at that time is her studying a new aspect of nature.

Goldie has the normal personality type (which is not a boring type, don’t get it twisted). Goldie (like all other normal characters) will get up at 5 AM and go to sleep at 1 AM, which is a super long day that I for sure could not deal with.

Goldie’s Appearance

Goldie

Goldie looks as much like a golden retriever as an animal crossing character can do! She is (as is no surprise to anyone reading this, I am sure) Golden yellow in the color of her skin and body; she wears a long-sleeved patterned dress which is a garish mustard style color that clashes a little too much for me with her skin. The secondary colors which make up the pattern on Goldie’s dress are a light green stripe and a bright red stripe. Goldie’s dress ends at the sleeves with white cuffs and an old-fashioned circular white collar on the neckline (far from a fashion icon)

Goldie’s little tail pokes out to the right of her dress, and her head has a light brown felt style circle which indicates her muzzle and contains her nose, which is an inverted triangle and a darker brown, and below this, there is a small lined mouth in a light brown with a pink tongue which makes her look super happy and cute.

Over Goldie’s right eye, she has an oval pattern in a light brown, and her eyes are long oval shapes too, with white pupils and pink/red eyes. Goldie’s ears are a dark brown that matches her nose and are nice and droopy and long (which again is adorable)

Goldie’s Personality

Goldie

Goldie has a normal personality type, which is by no means mundane or boring! Normal personality types are often compared to or described as ”sweet” personality types. Keywords used when describing Goldie as a normal character are likely to be ”friendly” ”nice” and, of course ”sweet”. If you take a more cynical approach, normal personality villagers such as our dear Goldie can also be described as naïve.

A common description or phrase used to describe normal villager types is ” She’s very gentle and calm. If you talk to her, you will feel like you have always been friends” with this in mind, it isn’t hard to understand what a great villager Goldie is and to want her on your island.

Normal villagers will make an effort to chat with you and befriend you; some of their favorite and most common topics will be the books they are reading or items they are cooking or enjoy eating! Normal villagers speak in a normal down to earth manner and use general and basic words and phrases, and often view other villager types as eccentric. The reason that Goldie can be described as naïve is that they are very optimistic and whimsical and often talk about what a blessing life is and how magical things are.

Similar to peppy and lazy villagers, normal villagers will easily get along with others and rarely have any friction points as they tend to accept others for who they are. Normal villagers will rarely offend others but can, on occasion, be offended by some of the comments or behaviors that other villagers display toward them, such as cranky and lazy villagers.

Goldie’s Preferences

Goldie’s preferences in terms of her styling and her interests seem to be constantly changing with time and with every new version of Animal Crossing. You can see what I mean and learn more about these below;

Goldie’s House

Goldie House

Goldie’s house does not change or develop much until her last two appearances, where (in my opinion at least) it takes a turn for the worse and loses its spark and personality) but I guess I can let you be the judge of that!

In Animal Crossing, Goldie’s Home Contains the Following

  • Turntable
  • Tall nebuloid
  • Cabana bed
  • Cream sofa
  • Cabin table
  • Round cactus
  • No four shirt
  • Tall cactus
  • Rocking chair

Internally Goldie’s house in this version of animal crossing has a blue trim wall with birch flooring (and the flooring is my favorite part of the house)

In Animal Crossing Wild World, Goldie’s Home has

Wild World

  • Regal bookcase
  • Tall nebuloid
  • Turntable
  • Cactus
  • Round cactus
  • Green counter
  • Cabin table
  • Cream sofa
  • Rocking chair
  • Cabin bed

As you can see, there is little to no difference between this house and Goldie’s first house; this house also has a blue trim wall and birch flooring.

In Animal Crossing City Folk, Goldie’s Home Contains the Following Items

Goldie CF

  • Regal bookcase
  • Tall nebuloid
  • Turntable
  • Cactus
  • Round cactus
  • Green counter
  • Cabin table
  • Cream sofa
  • Rocking chair
  • Cabin bed

This version is the same as the previous, even down to the same blue trim wall and birch flooring, and so at this point needs a revamp.

In Animal Crossing New Leaf

Goldie House NL

  • Harpsichord
  • Modern wood bed
  • Minimalist sofa
  • Modern wood shelf
  • Modern wood lamp
  • Minimalist mini table
  • Snake plant
  • Wooden stool
  • Minimalist ottoman
  • Yellow violets
  • Record player
  • Potted ivy
  • Display shelf

While change is welcome in this version of Goldie’s home, it is not exactly easy on the eye, especially with the tent rug floors and modern wood walls.

Summary

Goldie

I hope that you have fallen in love or at least learned to understand the cutest Golden Retriever in Animal Crossing (because who does not love golden retrievers, right?) Normal characters can often be overlooked as mundane or boring, but I love their eccentric and whimsy nature when it comes to all things magical and witchy. While the pessimists can call Goldie naïve, I would call her a ray of sunshine!
